Careers you can build after MTS

A tested mechanical system is not only a way to trade. It is a skill that firms pay for, prop firms fund and readers subscribe to. Here are twelve careers it opens.

I have worked on every side of the market: as an investor, an intermediary and a trader inside. Each of these careers rewards the same thing: a written, tested process. That is what you build with me.

12career paths
1skill behind all of them: a tested system
25weekends to build it
01

Funded account trader

Trade a prop firm's capital, keep most of the profit

What it is. Prop firms give you their capital after you pass a trading challenge with strict loss limits. Pass, and you keep a large share of the profit, often 70 to 90 percent, without risking your own savings.

How MTS helps. A tested system with written rules, a daily loss limit and position sizing is exactly what a challenge tests. Most people fail challenges on discipline, not on ideas.

Where you learn it: Weeks 10 to 13 (Internals) and your system dossier

02

Proprietary trader

Trade for a desk, on the firm's money

What it is. Prop desks hire traders to trade the firm's own capital, with a salary or a profit share. Desks want people who can show a process, a track record and risk control.

How MTS helps. You graduate with an institutional tear sheet (Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, Monte Carlo) that speaks the language of a desk head.

Where you learn it: Internals phase and the tear sheet

03

Algo trader and Expert Advisor developer

Turn your rules into code that trades for you

What it is. A mechanical system can be written as an Expert Advisor (EA) on MetaTrader or as alerts on TradingView. You can run it for yourself, or sell or rent it on marketplaces such as the MQL5 Market.

How MTS helps. Your rules are already written as if then statements, so turning them into code is the natural next step. See Purvang's own Expert Advisor on MQL5 as a live example.

Where you learn it: Mechanical specialisation, weeks 14 to 24

04

Fund manager

Manage money for others with a process they can trust

What it is. Portfolio managers, PMS and AIF managers and family office managers run other people's money. In India this needs SEBI registration and NISM certifications; abroad there are similar licences.

How MTS helps. Investors back a repeatable process, not a hunch. MTS gives you that process. For the NISM exams, prepare on iamb.club.

Where you learn it: Externals phase, weeks 2 to 5

05

Research publisher on Substack

Build an audience and an income with your research

What it is. Writers earn from paid newsletters on Substack and similar platforms by sharing market research, frameworks and education. It also builds the reputation that opens every other door.

How MTS helps. A rule based view of markets gives you something original to write every week. See The Regime Report, Purvang's own publication. Note: giving buy or sell calls in India needs SEBI Research Analyst registration.

Where you learn it: Intermediaries phase, weeks 6 to 9

06

Research analyst

Write research for brokers, funds and advisers

What it is. Research analysts study markets, sectors and stocks and publish views for clients. Brokers, banks and funds employ them; independent analysts register with SEBI in India.

How MTS helps. You learn the top down method (global, country, sector, script) and how to test an idea before you publish it.

Where you learn it: Intermediaries phase, weeks 6 to 9

07

Quant and systematic researcher

Test ideas with data before money is at risk

What it is. Systematic research teams design, backtest and monitor rule based strategies. It is one of the fastest growing roles in markets.

How MTS helps. Backtesting, walk forward testing, Monte Carlo and the ratios that judge a system are core MTS skills.

Where you learn it: Mechanical specialisation

08

Risk manager

Keep the desk alive in bad markets

What it is. Risk managers set and watch limits on positions, losses and exposure for brokers, funds and desks.

How MTS helps. Position sizing, drawdown control and a written risk plan are part of every MTS system.

Where you learn it: Risk weeks in the specialisation

09

Dealer and execution trader

Execute orders well, for clients or a desk

What it is. Dealers place and manage orders for clients and institutions. It is a common first job inside a broker.

How MTS helps. You understand order types, slippage and execution rules, and you can explain a system to a client.

Where you learn it: Intermediaries phase

10

Investment adviser

Advise clients on their money, for a fee

What it is. Registered investment advisers plan portfolios for clients. In India this means SEBI RIA registration and NISM certifications.

How MTS helps. Clients trust an adviser who has a clear, written method. Prepare for NISM on iamb.club.

Where you learn it: Externals and Intermediaries phases

11

Trading educator and mentor

Teach what you have learnt

What it is. Good educators are in short supply. Courses, workshops, YouTube and books are all paths.

How MTS helps. Once you can explain your own system, you can teach it. MTS graduates join the society for life and can grow into this path.

Where you learn it: Graduation, week 25

12

Full time trader for your own capital

Make your own money work with rules

What it is. Many students simply want to manage their own savings and trading with confidence, part time or full time.

How MTS helps. This is the core of MTS: your own tested, sized and live system, plus a 90 day roadmap.

Where you learn it: All 25 weeks

Questions about careers

What careers can I do after the MTS Mentorship?

Twelve common paths: funded account trader, proprietary trader, algo trader and Expert Advisor developer, fund manager, research publisher on Substack, research analyst, quant researcher, risk manager, dealer, investment adviser, trading educator and full time trader for your own capital.

Does MTS guarantee a job or a funded account?

No. MTS is education. It gives you the skills, the system and the documents that firms and prop challenges look for. Results depend on your own work and the market.

Do I need a licence for these careers?

Some, yes. In India, managing client money, giving advice or publishing buy and sell calls needs SEBI registration and NISM certifications. You can prepare for NISM exams on iamb.club.
